Being able to age in place is a deeply meaningful goal for many older adults, allowing them to remain in their homes surrounded by familiar people, places, and routines. This requires a range of scalable and responsive resources and services to maintain a safe home environment, support health and wellness, and provide social connections.

Stay UA program:  

Volunteers helping older adults with tasks so they can age in place. Volunteers are vetted with background checks, and transportation checks if transporting a older adult in the program.  Tasks included for volunteers may include: 

Phone Connections, Social gatherings, Friendly Visits Leaf raking, assisting with flower planting, snow removal
Simple Home maintenance, technology support (basic) light paperwork and moving, Pet care (short tier assistance with walking, feeding ect.)
Basic transportation assistance, simple errands (grocers pick up, etc.)

The City's Parks & Recreation Department is proud to offer a full range of activities and programs specifically targeted for adults aged 50-plus at the Bob Crane Community Center, as well as providing access to the facility's full range of fitness facilities wellness and enrichment programs. Opportunities include:

Social Connections - visit the 1918 Lounge to meet with your peers for coffee and conversation
Shared Hobbies - weekly activities include Bridge, woodworking, stained glass, and watercoloring
Targeted Health & Wellness - weekly classes include Yoga, Tai Chi, Balance Practice, Pilates Fusion, and various aerobic and strength training options
Discussion Series - from history sessions to current events, be part of the discussion.
Technology Classes - master your cell phone, laptop or ipad, thanks a series of hands-on workshops and classes.
Dance - from tap dancing to line dancing, ballroom and even ballet for beginners, the options are endless.
